Meet Alcinda Monteiro (she/her): Our Master Seamstress

We're honored to introduce Alcinda Monteiro, a talented seamstress who brings a wealth of 30-plus years of experience and is the inspiration behind the existence of Alcinda Alterations.

Alcinda's greatest joy as a seamstress comes from seeing her clients radiate confidence and happiness in clothes that fit them perfectly. So, her top priorities are premium quality and meticulous alterations, and tailoring.

When you ask her about her work, she lights up and explains, "It might seem like just a job to some, but for me, it's pure joy and fulfillment. Sewing is my true passion, and seeing the happiness on my clients' faces is the icing on the cake. Plus, I get paid to do what I love!"

A World of Experience at Her Fingertips

Alcinda's journey in garment creation began in her native Sao Vicente, Cabo Verde, where she honed her skills at the prestigious Sewing School of Antonia Freitas. For over 35 years, she has transformed garments, exceeding client expectations in Cabo Verde and the USA.

Alcinda possesses a unique and versatile skill set. She thrives in environments that demand both precision and creativity. Her experience encompasses:

• Advanced  Alteration Techniques: From intricate beadwork adjustments to complex patternmaking, there's no alteration task too challenging for her. Alcinda has the expertise to achieve a flawless fit whether it's a delicate wedding gown, suit, or a favorite pair of jeans.

• Multilingual  Communication: Also, fluent in Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole and can comfortably work with a diverse clientele.

• Inclusiveness: Alcinda is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all clients, regardless of body type, background, or styling preference and needs.

• Custom Garment Creation: Alcinda can bring your dream outfit to life by meticulously crafting garments that flatter your unique style needs.
